PureData is an object-oriented language for electronic music applications; born in the early ’80 by Miller Puckette under the name of MAX, was developed at IRCAM with the aim to give composers a complete MIDI-management software; MAX had a free licence but in the 1989 was sold to the Opcode Systems changing the software to a non-free licence. The first developer of the project became David Zicarelli who implemented in MAX the “MSP” (Max Signal Processing) extension allowing the process of both MIDI and Audio signals. In the 1996 Miller Puckette released PureData, an opensource heir of MAX.

PureData è un linguaggio di programmazione ad oggetti per le applicazioni di musica elettronica; è nato agli inizi degli anni ’80 da Miller Puckette sotto il nome di MAX, è stato sviluppato all’IRCAM con l’obiettivo di poter dare ai compositori un completo software di gestione MIDI; MAX aveva una licenza libera ma nel 1989 è stato venduto alla Opcode Systems cambiandone la licenza verso una non libera. Il primo sviluppatore del progetto divenne David Zicarelli che implementò l’estensione “MSP” (Max Signal Processing) che permise la gestione anche di segnali Audio. Nel 1996 Miller Puckette ha rilasciato PureData, un erede opensource di MAX.

Archlinux è una distribuzione linux leggera e veloce, la sua filosofia è “keep it simple stupid”, ciò significa che gran parte della configurazione di sistema viene fatta da shell, sono pochissimi infatti gli strumenti di configurazione ad interfaccia grafica e nessuno di questi è installato di default; è sicuramente una distribuzione linux per utenti avanzati e nessun pacchetto è personalizzato ma totalmente basato sui sorgenti originali; archlinux è un potente ambiente per la compilazione del software dai sorgenti.

Ardour is compatible with the LADSPA standard audio plugin and it can manage virtually an infinity of tracks!!! it works with the same Jack’s sample rates and its funcions are the same of all others DAWs even if ardour is “free”!
